The Mercastel's family :
The story comes-along at the end of the 19th century, in the vicinity of the city of Flers, in Basse-Normandie.
The Mercastel's family is an old family of the local nobility, who is still thrives because of the flourishing textile industry of the neighbouring city.
Certain members of this family, although very attached to their roots, have however the adventurous spirit and have got important jobs of diplomat in the french and english colonial empires.
